Are E-Collars Safe For Your Dog?
We commonly receive questions regarding the safety of our e-collars. Having been involved with dog training collars for over 20 years, we can vouch for the safety of our e-collars. With the right information and resources, our e-collars can be equally safe and rewarding for you and your dog.
Safe output range
Our collars have an output range from 0.000005 to 0.0003 Joules, which complies with Australian standards (ACMA), and are also ECMA approved. In fact, a study from a leading Veterinary University in the US found that a normal 2-volt/20-milliamp shock from one of our collars is no more stressful for your dog than a regular trip to the vet.
Responsible use
E-collars are at their safest when they are implemented responsibly. It’s important to fit the collar around the dog’s neck so it is not moving around too much or rubbing the dog’s skin. But be careful not to fit it too tight either, as this could cause excessive pressure and discomfort.
We also do not recommend leaving e-collars on your dog for more than 8-10 hours per day, as this can also cause pressure sores.
To minimize the risk of pressure sores and infection, it’s important to keep the contact area clean.
