The Petporte smart microchip cat flap is designed for your cats easy access to the outside world whilst keeping other unwanted animals out of your house. The Petporte smart cat flap does not require your cats to a receiver collar on. It reads the unique ID stored on your cat’s microchip that your vet has implanted. Whenever your cat passes under the porch, the cat flap scans the unique number and, if that number matches the number already programmed into the flap, it will allow the cat to walk through.
Programming Cats into the Petporte smart flap
The Petporte smart flap is initially supplied unprogrammed, when it is first powered both the green and red lights will flash to indicate that there are no ID programmed into the unit. The door locks will be open to allow free access for any animals. When programming the Petporte smart flap with an animal for the fi rst time or if you exceed the programming time, ensure that your pet is nearby as you have 30 seconds in which to introduce the animal to the scanner (porch). Press and hold the Green Button for about 10 seconds until the green light and release the Green button and a beeping will be set off. You now have 30 seconds to pass the cat underneath the porch. Microchips are normally implanted between the shoulder blades of the cat which means that part of the animal needs to be under the porch area in order to program the ID into the smart cat flap. Once the microchip has been successfully scanned, the Petporte smart flap will beep three times. The green light will stop fl ashing, and the green lock will come up to its locked position. If this procedure fails the first time or if you exceed the programming time (30 seconds), simply repeat the process. You will need to program the unit with each of your cats by following the same steps. You can program up to 25 cats into this cat flap.
