Used correctly the e-collar or shock collar is an invaluable tool. It generally is a short term tool to help the dog understand what you want. Once the correct behaviours are learned the e-collar can be reserved for times when greater control is needed.
They are a great aid in training your paddock or field dog and there is no one-size fits all approach when it comes to training your dog. Even when used on VERY low stimulation you can get great results. You need to tailor the training to suit the dog.
One of the problems when training a dog is if he runs off, by the time you get hold of it, it is too late for telling him that is wrong. But with remote training collar, you would be able to correct the dog when he runs off. Important: you should never correct a dog when you are angry. Patience is key in dog training. Use a balanced approach when using a dog training collar, don’t over-correct and don’t under correct (correction is to get the dog's attention, not punishment).
There are a variety of products to choose from that you can use for your training and these include the entry level working dog remote trainers: Dogtra IQ plus, advance working dog training system with new technologies: Garmin Delta/Delta Sport, easy to use electric dog trainer: Dogtra 200c/202c and the new Slim & lightweight trainer: Dogtra ARC.
