The Fi Shock SS2D electric fence energizer is powered by two D – cell batteries. With the efficient electronic circuit design, these two D – cells will last up to 2 months under continuous operation, depending on fence and weather conditions.

Electric Fencing Basics

An electric fencing system is just that, a system. It is made up of several key components: the electric fence energizer, the transmission lines (fence wire), fence posts with insulators, and the grouding path (earth). Of course, the animal provides the final link to complete the electrical path.

An electric fencing system presents a mental barrier to an animal rather than a physical barrier. Once an animal is shocked, it will respect the fence out of fear of being shocked again, even though it has not been harmed. The electric fence energizer produces an electrical pulse that travels through the lead – out wire into the fence wire(s). The electricity then flows through the animal’s body into the soil. The electricity then travels through the moist soil back to the ground rod which is connected to the energizer’s ground terminal.

This electric fencing energizer emits an intermittent output pulse which is mild yet unpleasant. A dog that has experienced the mild shock from the electric fence several times may eventually avoid touching the fence again. If this is the case, you may elect to turn off the energizer to conserve the batteries. It may be necessary for you to turn the energizer back on periodically as a reminder to your pet.
