Used correctly the e-collar or shock collar is an invaluable tool. It generally is a short term tool to help the dog understand what you want. Once the correct behaviours are learned the e-collar can be reserved for times when greater control is needed.
They are a great aid in training your paddock or trial dog and there is no one-size fits all approach when it comes to training your dog. Even when used on VERY low stimulations you can get great results. You need to tailor the training to suit the dog.
One of the biggest problems training a dog, is that if it runs off, by the time you get hold of it, it is too late for telling off - you would in effect be punishing the dog for coming back to you. You should never correct a dog when you are angry. Patience is key in dog training. Use a balanced approach when using a dog training collar, don’t over-correct and don’t under correct.
